Our Team
John O’Shea – Trainer
Originally from Carlow in Ireland I started my career as a stable lad and apprentice jockey under Liam Browne who had a string of horses in training at the time. After my time with Liam, I gained 3 years’ valuable experience with Michael O’Brien one of the leading national hunt trainers in Ireland at that time. Then in 1986 I moved to England and after some time working at yards in the Midlands I set up in Westbury-on-Severn in 1996 where I hold a UK licence to train both flat and national Hunt racehorses. Over the years I am grateful to have enjoyed a higher than average ratio for the number of winners and placed horses vs the number of horses we have in training, amongst these were sprinters Major Valentine and Swendab and jumpers Kanpai and Go Balistic.
Training racehorses is my passion. My aim every day is to use all my knowledge, experience and expertise gained over the past 30+ years to do our best for the horses, so that they work hard for us and deliver their best performances when racing. Race days are always special days and we want our owners – and their horses – to always have the best day possible.
